Wear it on your sleeve (lyrics)

Wear It On Your Sleeve (by Pinky Polanski)
Don’t you regret a word you say
Don’t you step down and back away
Stand up and face the enemy
Stand up for yourself
Stand up and see
And it’s easy to see
that you’ve got anger and you want it to be free
and it’s easy to see
that you’ve got anger and you want it want it want it want it
It’s not a right if you don’t take it
It may be offered but they’re only faking it
Push them back against the wall
Knock em down
and Make em fall
And it’s easy to see
that you’ve got anger and you want it to be free
and it’s easy to see
that you’ve got anger and you want it want it want it want it

The (un)Discovered

So I guess that’s us too!

What a day though.  Setup began around 11am and there was a lot of work on the part of Jess from Cherrybear Records and Rick from Dogwater Studios as they got ready to host 10 bands from the local area in their backyard.  Earl got the Video setup and things starting picking up even more as Big Remote did their set up and began soundchecking.

The BBQ was fantastic and I got to hand it to Rick’s dad Rick for a tri-tip that I would ordinarily kill for…kill…for.

Big Remote did a great set that was equal parts mellow and foot stompin.  It’s like Elvis Costello got together with Tom Petty and shared a joint.  Brilliant and of exceptional caliber.

The Bo Deens had me going with Piraty tunes that may have contributed to my early drinking…when you’ve got sailor jigs going and a kicking fiddle player…well it’s a wonder I didn’t wind up worse.

I have to be honest – I didn’t hear much of Jonie Blinman…there were Jello shots and they had started to hit me round about this time.  Seems like you couldn’t walk through the kitchen without getting hooked into another one.

We were on next and I’m told it was a good time.  I had fun in the bits I remember and can’t help but push myself as hard as I can to both have fun, get crazy and sing until I have no air to breathe.  The band had a great time too and no injuries of any permanent nature to persons or instruments.  At some point we were asked to expand our set while the next band got to the gig.  We did a few more covers including what I recall was a rousing version of Rocky Horror – Sweet Transvestite.

Missed a couple bands but caught the last three.  Blunderbusst was a kick in the heiny and the Madorians did a solid whomp ass set as did the last band Nancy Plays Nurse.  I apologize to Slut Fungus for being out cold somewhere because I love their punky goodness.

I want to thank everybody involved because I had a wonderful weekend and while I don’t remember it all, what I remember was gooooood.

UPDATE…and we sold our first run of the EP (though I’m still tracking down the money 😉

The Rain Came Down…on one person anyway

Hey the show on the 8th was a real blast…The Ginger Revolution has officially begun with Todd of the Firebombing and me (felix felix) leading the way with our pasty skin and reddish hair!  Alright enough of the wonders of what’s down our collective recessive genes.

The show!  Blunderbusst, the Firebombing, and Pinky Polanski! So we opened and immediately felt the love.  Great to see a lot of new faces and nice to know the regulars didn’t light torches or get out the pitchforks.  Bummer part of the evening had to be realizing that I’d f*cked up my back during load in and managed to tweak it just right jumping down into the crowd. Ow!  Whiskey helped and we had some interesting drink specials to boot.  The pink drink, and the boob cannon and my favorite…the firebomb (whiskey, vodka and siracha rooster sauce).

Blunderbusst did an amazing set and had some burlesque action on some songs which seemed to pull one fan in a bit too much.  He tried to steal the show with a flashdance move and some improvised interpretive dancing/writhing on the floor.  See what you missed?!  The Busst were cooking though with a steadily climbing angsty crunchy sound.  AWEsome.

Firebombing headlined and I think they always kill it!  Roots punk going back by way of 78 UK…don’t believe me?  Better check em out.
Great turnout and good times…lots of love to the bands and the fans and I can only see more fun in the future

Feel Good (Lyrics)

Feel Good (by Pinky Polanski)

We all want something that feels good

Hello Angel
Hello Devil
Hello Lover with a deathwish for me baby

Hey there Evil
Hey there Darling
You gonna skin me like a cat I feel it coming

We all want something that feels good
But you wanna hurt me cause it makes you feel good

What’s a matter
Creature Feature
Ain’t this the horror show you looking for now baby

Stop your crying
Leave me dying
You came around here just to sit and watch me fall

We all want something that feels good
But you wanna hurt me cause it makes you feel good

What’s a matter
Creature Feature
Ain’t this the horror show you looking for now baby

Stop your crying
Leave me dying
You came around here just to sit and watch me fall

We all want something that feels good
But you wanna hurt me cause it makes you feel good
We – yeah we all want something that feels good
But you – oh fuck you – you wanna hurt me cause it makes you feel so good

Surfing East 4th Street (Lyrics)

Surfing East 4th Street (by Pinky Polanski)

Surfing East 4th Street

I told you once
and I told you twice
I never wanted any of this
but still I pay the price

and now when you call
and I ignore the phone
cause it’s just the same old shit
that I don’t want to own

I wanted more
but that just wasn’t you
I wanted more

Now it’s late at night
I wander through this town
searching for my friends of fortune
and wondering why I’m down

And work’s a hassle
it never satisfies
it’s not about the money
cause money only lies

I wanted more
but it just wasn’t there
I wanted more

I wanted more
but it just can’t be found
I wanted more
but it just can’t be found
I wanted more
